Time to say I Do
13 June 2018
Hello again ... we know you have been waiting with bated breath for our next news article , well here it is in all its lovely , wedding glory.
As you would expect in the summertime we have lots of weddings here at Dutch Nurseries HQ. Every weekend is full with the hustle and bustle of shower bouquets and scented roses to corsages for Mums to candleabras for the tables. And as you can imagine there really is no end to the possibilities that couples have when it comes to choosing their designs for their special day. What we love the most about this time of year is just how different every wedding is to the one the follows it. You can go from having stunning all white roses one week to create a sophisticated , traditional and romantic look to a wedding to a wedding full to the brim with sunflowers emulating a totally different vibe of moder, funky and a twist on tradition- it certainly keeps us on our toes here and out of trouble.
Different to times gone by where wedding season only existed in the summer months , we are now finding our wedding start as early as February right through to the break in between Christmas and New Year. This is fantastic for our creative team of florists to let their juices flow - of the creative kind of course. Some couples want to theme their weddings to be appropraite to the season they are to be wed in. Pupmkins are always a popular choice for table centrepieces in October , as well as mini pumpkins and automonal oak foliage to really create that warming glow that autumn brings. Daffodills, tulips and hyacinth have been the most popular choice for our spring nuptials this year - two weddings that fell on Easter weekend were simply stunning yet simple with splashes of yellow daffodill dotted in jam jars around the venue and the subtle yet fragant scene of the hyacinth proved to be a real winner for the day too. Of course our summer couples love the famous wedding flower the "peony" and yes would couldn't agree more, with its pillow like look and stunning scent it really is a WOW flower to use in all things wedding through the months of June and July. Of course we must mention Christmas ( i know i know too soon you say) however with weddings already booked in for not only this year but next we can not wait to provide our couples with some classic reds and whites for the man in the red and white suit !! - Not the groom , or a different option is to go "icy" - silvers, blues, whites and grey create a stunning classy look to all venues and brides and grooms.
Another reason we LOVE LOVE LOVE the weddings is the venues we get to decorate in and around the York area. Each venue just like each wedding brings with it a different infrastructure with scope to really run wild with floral decoration. Pillars give a great prop as it where to attached sweeping foliage and floral garlands intertwined with subtle yet pretty fairy lights. Large firplaces provide a perfect place setting for candlelight and long and low arrangements that just catch the eye when you walk into the room. Staircases are the platform the scatter petals of any colour to create a romantic trail to your reception room as well as garlands to tie in the overall wedding theme. Can you tell I am getting excited !!
We always encourage a creative, working relationship with our couples and we find this way we achieve their dream look for their special day which is really what it is all about. Make sure you are keeping updated with our wedding work by clicking on our wedding gallery on the webiste as well as keeping an eye out for our "spotlight status" on facebook - a monthly status concentrating on one of our lovely couples we had the pleasure of creating flowers for.
Anyway i have to go ... we have another wedding to prepare- this time its all about those sweet avalanche roses - I shall say no more- give them a google - they are lush lush lush.
